Hambleton District Council is still on the look out for a partner to help redevelop Northallerton’s former prison.

The council bought the site last year and is advertising for a partner to redevelop the 3.4 acre site in the centre of town.

We want to create a legacy for the town that reflects the sites former use but also drives the town forward.

– Councillor Mark Robson

It's hoped the prison that was closed two years ago will be turned into a mixed-use development retail, leisure, housing and a small hotel.

Developers can visit the Northerallerton Prison Development Website for more information.

The work is due to finish by 2019.
