Hundreds of school children have been showing off their athletic prowess at the annual Northumberland School Games.
The two-day event in Cramlington opened with an Olympics-style ceremony and parade led by Former World cruiserweight champion Glenn McCrory from County Durham.
The boxer encouraged pupils that sport has the power to change lives for the better regardless of your background. He began boxing as a schoolboy.
The 7-16 year olds represented teams from across the North East and competed in a range of sports including netball, football, rounders golf and gymnastics.
Wayne Daley from the Education Network helped put together the programme of activities and says the forthcoming Rio Olympics is the perfect chance to enthuse youngsters and look for sporting talent amongst those taking part.
