Award-winning 'I, Daniel Blake' star Dave Johns says 2016 was 'like a dream'

Actor Dave Johns has told ITV Tyne Tees of his remarkable year thanks to the success of debut film I Daniel Blake.

The Newcastle actor was better known as a regular on the stand-up comedy circuit before he was cast in the lead role of the Ken Loach film, which has won a string of awards, including the Cannes’ Palme d’Or.

Dave himself won the Best Actor trophy at the British Independent Film Awards, beating off competition from the likes of Michael Fassbender.

He told ITV Tyne Tees, the past year has been like a dream.
