Recording device found in Gosforth Academy toilets

Recording equipment has been found in the toilets of a Tyneside school.

A school employee has been arrested following the discovery in the staff toilets at Gosforth Academy in Newcastle. Police have confirmed the man, 53, was not a member of the teaching staff.

Newcastle City Council released a statement to say, at this stage, this is no information to suggest the incident affects students.

“A 53-year-old male former employee has been arrested on suspicion of a voyeurism offence at Gosforth Academy. There is no information at this stage to suggest that the incidents involve or affect any of the students. Police investigations are ongoing and it would therefore not be appropriate to comment any further.”
