Blue Reef Aquarium in Tynemouth has welcomed twin marmoset babies.

They were born at the aquarium and can now be seen in the monkey display alongside their family.

The babies were born earlier this month and have settled into their new environment.

Unlike other monkeys, marmosets almost always give birth to identical twins, which are then carried around on their father’s back. These two are the latest new arrivals after the birth of their brothers and sister last year.Their progress is closely monitored.

“We are delighted to welcome these two new marmosets to Blue Reef Tynemouth. The babies are both fit and healthy and we can’t wait to watch them develop.”
