Family pay tribute to their 'gentle giant' of a father

The family of a man who died in a car crash on Sunday night have paid tribute to him, calling him their "gentle giant".

Christopher Janson died on Sunday night in a crash involving two vehicles on Brooms Lane, between the Jolly Drovers roundabout and Stony Heap in Consett.

It happened around 9pm, the 26-year-old was taken to the RVI but passed away.

Speaking today, Christopher’s parents Brian and Jayne said:

We have lost a precious son, a loving brother to Emma and Daniel and an adored father to his son Riley.

Known to all his friends as CJ, he was a gentle giant with a huge heart and will be sadly missed by everyone.

Police are still investigating Sunday's collision and want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have witnessed the collision.
