Newcastle charged with terrorism offences appears at the Old Bailey

A man from Newcastle accused publishing extremist material on social media is to stand trial in November.

Syrian Abdulrahman Alcharbati, 31, appeared at the Old Bailey in London via videolink on Thursday 20 July

He only spoke to identify himself during the brief preliminary hearing.

He faces seven counts of disseminating terrorist material and one of possessing terrorist articles.

According to charges one of the posts was ‘glorifying lives of children living under Isis rule and training to fight’.

Mr Justice Holroyde remanded Alcharbati, of Westholme Gardens, Newcastle Upon Tyne, in custody ahead of his trial at Newcastle Crown Court on 20 November.
