A replica of Captain Cook's ship The Endeavour has been auctioned off for £110,000. The buyer is from the North East but no further details have been released.

The full-size vessel, which has been on display on the banks of the River Tees, is one of only two in the world, the other being in Australia.

The original Endeavour was captained by Cook, who was born in Middlesbrough, when he landed in Australia. The replica cost £2.5 million pounds to build in 2001.
