Surfers in Tynemouth gather to remember a man who died.

Hundreds of people were on Longsands beach on Monday 28 August to celebrate the life of local surfing legend Steven Hudson, who died a few weeks ago.

Steven co-founded Tynemouth Surf Co, which aims to put the area on the surfing map as a top destination for the sport.

In honour of Steven, more than 200 surfers took to the water with their boards for a minute's silence.

The surfers held hands in a circle in celebration and remembrance of his life.

A sponsored paddle also took place in aid of the Multiple sclerosis Society.
