A woman in her 70s was taken to hospital after an assault in a supermarket carpark

The woman suffered a minor head injury and was taken by ambulance to York Hospital.

The lady was discharged following treatment.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about the assault that happened in the ALDI car park at Monks Cross, York.

It happened between 5.15pm and 5.30pm on 27 September 2017

A white man of heavy build aged in his late 40s, and a woman aged in her 70s who are both from the York area, were involved.

The man was arrested at the scene and later released under investigation while enquiries continue.

We are appealing for information from anyone who witnessed the assault, and from anyone who recalls seeing either of the two people leading up to the incident.
