Fracking protestor arrested after climbing onto lorry

A man has been arrested after climbing onto a lorry at Kirby Misperton fracking site in North Yorkshire.

The man made his way to the top of the vehicle as it drove along Kirby Misperton Road, near the A169, this morning. After a four hour stand off with the police he came down at 2.10pm.

The man was was arrested on suspicion of holding onto a motor vehicle in motion and remains in custody.

Yesterday it was revealed that the police force spent over 180 thousand pounds on the operation in August and September. The county's Police and Crime Commissioner says she doesn't intend to apply for extra government funding just yet.
