Motorcycle rider dies after lorry collision

A 25-year-old man has died following a crash which involved a motorcycle and a lorry.

The collision happened at the the end of the A689 at the Wolviston roundabout, near Billingham, at about 5pm today.

The man was riding the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene soon after the crash.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time."

Traffic has been diverted surrounding the area of the collision into Wolviston village while officers investigate the scene.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact Sergeant Jonathan Stokeld from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 025912.
