Counter-terrorism police have been granted more time to question a man arrested in Newcastle this week.
Officers raided a home in the Arthur's Hill area of the city's west end on Tuesday in an "intelligence-led" operation.
They now have until Tuesday, December 18, to question the 33-year-old man in custody who was arrested on suspicion of terror offences.
The operation is being led by the Counter Terrorism Police, who took the suspect to a station in West Yorkshire for questioning. Northumbria Police were also involved in the operation.
They arrested him on suspicion of "being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of Acts of Terrorism under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000".
