Neighbours of a woman who was found dead in a County Durham home say she was a mum-of-two.
Detectives say they are treating the death, in Carrville, near Durham City as 'suspicious'.
Police were called to Bainbridge Street at just before 4.30pm on Friday where the body of a 39-year-old woman was found. A 35-year-old man has been questioned by police.
On Sunday, the end terraced house was still cordoned off, while forensics officers could be seen working at the scene. Neighbours told ChronicleLive a couple lived at the house with a young boy. And they said they believed the dead woman was a mum-of-two.
One woman, who asked not to be named, said:
The woman said the row of terraced houses were once home to local families who had lived there all their lives, but over recent years a lot had been sold on and there was a lot of coming and going on the once quiet street.
Neil Smith lives next door to the house the police were at. He found out what had happened when officers called at his door.
