Annual puffin counts aim to tackle threats to the charismatic birds

They used to take place every five years, but puffin counts on the Farne Islands will now be an annual event.

It is hoped closer monitoring will help deal with threats the popular birds are facing as our climate changes.

Ross Hutchinson went to the colony off the Northumberland coast to find out more
