Police have reissued two photos of a man wanted in connection with a rape five years ago.

In June 2014, a 27-year-old woman was out with friends in Newcastle when she met a man she did not know.

They went to his address on Stamfordham Road in the Chapel Park area, where she said she was then raped in the early hours of June 29.

Northumbria Police said the man was thought to have left Tyneside soon after, could be from the South East of England and may have used a false identity.

His image was circulated through Crimestoppers but now police have reissued two pictures in the hope that someone may know him.

This investigation has been going on for a number of years but it has never been closed.

We need to identify this man so we can speak to him about the events that night and are once again appealing for help from the public.> The man in question was living on Stamfordham Road back in 2014 but we believe he was using a false name, and so we need to speak to anyone who knew him.

If you recognise this man, or if you knew him when he lived in the area, then please pick up the phone and call police."
