Volunteers rescue stranded seal pup
An adorable baby seal has been rescued by wildlife volunteers afterbecoming trapped among rocks on New Year's Day.
The pup was found with just his head sticking out of a hole at St Mary'sIsland in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside.
St Mary's Seal Watch were contacted and members were able to gently manoeuvre the animal to safety, before releasing him back into the wild.
The pup was found facing out with just its head out of the hole.
Amazingly, the seal pup was not injured in his ordeal and was released back into the sea.
