Two major car crashes in County Durham village

Emergency services have been called to two serious collisions in a small County Durham village.

Both collisions are thought to have happened between 7am and 8am on Thursday morning but it is not known if they are related.

Officers were called to Park Road at the zebra crossing after a collision which is believed to involve a car and a pedestrian.

The area remains taped off and the road is closed to drivers.

Later, a car smashed through a house on School Terrace.

Tape has also been put up around the car which is still wedged in the house.
