Relatives of a County Durham airman killed in the Second World War, have come forward after his plane was discovered more than 70 years later.
Sergeant Charles Armstrong Bell's Short Sterling bomber - BK716 disappeared in 1943 but was found in Lake Markermeer, near Amsterdam this week.
Sergeant Bell was one of seven crew listed as missing in action.
Preparations are underway to recover the plane, and the bodies of the airmen believed to still be on board, in March 2020.
Durham Police were asked to help trace Bell's family, who have now made contact after an appeal circulated on social media.
