Fire crews say a large forest fire in Northumberland is now under control.

There were seven appliances on the scene at the height of the fire.

It began in a plantation between Haydon Bridge and the Stanegate Road, North of Haydon Bridge.

Officers controlled the edges of the fire using water from a pond nearby.

They had asked people to stay away from the area and those downwind from the fire had to keep doors and windows closed.

Crews will return to the site on Monday morning (1st June) to add more water to the area.
