Windrush Day 2020: "Black history is British history"

National Windrush Day - a day of celebration and the continued fight for justice.

It marks the anniversary of the arrival of the ship, The Empire Windrush, to the UK with around 500 migrants from the Caribbean, 72 years ago.

The annual event was established in 2018 in the wake the Windrush scandal when many of those invited to Britain suddenly found themselves on the wrong side of immigration laws that, unbeknown to them, had changed.

Two years on from the inaugural Windrush Day, their fight for justice continues.

National Windrush Day is a chance to celebrate the contributions of the Caribbean community to British society.

Our Correspondent Rachel Bullock has been talking to people on Teesside about the difference it has made.

They speak of what the anniversary means to them - especially at a time when there are calls for equality and change around the world.
