Man arrested after alleged knifepoint robbery in Middlesbrough

A man has been arrested after a group of teenage boys were allegedly robbed at knifepoint.

This is reported to have happened in Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, at about 8.30pm on Tuesday.

Cleveland Police said the group of four teenagers, aged 13 years, were approached by a man who threatened them with a knife before stealing three mobile phones and cash and making off towards the Tesco supermarket at the Parkway Centre.

Officers think there may have been people nearby at the time of the alleged incident who could help their enquiries.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of class A drugs and is in police custody.

Any witnesses or anyone with private CCTV around the area of Fairy Dell has been asked to contact Detective Constable Marie Appleby from Middlesbrough CID on 101, quoting incident number 122229.
