A man from County Durham has raised £23,000 for male mental health charities by walking 300 miles from York to Hastings wearing metal chainmail and carrying a sword and shield.

Lewis Kirkbride retraced the journey taken by Harold II to the battle site at Hastings in 1066.

The 37-year-old father said he met strangers who shared stories of their own mental health challenges.
