Police comment on Harrogate Co-op robbery

Detective Sergeant Hannah Wright, of North Yorkshire Police said:

"If you witnessed the robbery or can help identify either of the people involved I urge you to come forward and contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.

"I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the two suspects after they left the store or saw anyone acting suspiciously prior to the robbery."

Police searching for Harrogate robbery suspects

An investigation is underway after two masked raiders robbed a Co-op store in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

The pair - who were wearing balaclavas - entered the shop on St Winifred's Avenue at around 9:30pm on Thursday night. They threatened staff with a knife, before stealing more than £180 from the till and fleeing in the direction of a nearby hospital.

One of the suspects is described as being around 5ft 3in tall, and of stocky build. The other is approximately 5ft 8in and was wearing a grey hooded top.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the robbery. Any witnesses are being asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.
