Highways England has announced that after working throughout the night, the A1 between Alnwick and the Scottish Border is now open.
The team have used a "Zaugg Rolba" snow blower to clear the way.
They say high winds caused continuing drifts overnight, which delayed their team's progress
However, early on Saturday morning, Highways England shared the good news of the A1 re-opening with their followers on Twitter.
Drivers are still being reminded to drive to the conditions and to stay safe.
