Boro groundsman 'highly commended' in Football League award

Middlesbrough groundsman Tony Bell has been 'highly commended' in the Football League Groundsman of the Season award.

The awards recognise the importance of the quality of pitches for professional football and acknowledge those head groundsmen and their staff who consistently produce the best playing surfaces in The Football League.

SSI jobs fair being held at Riverside Stadium

More than 80 companies and training providers are headlining the latest jobs and skills fair to help former SSI and supply chain workers find new employment and retraining opportunities.

Middlesbrough Football Club's Riverside Stadium will host the jobs and skills fair between 10am and 3pm today.

Meanwhile steelworkers from across the UK will be travelling to the original 'Steel City' - Sheffield - for a Save our Steel march later

They will be joined by their families and other members of the steelworkers' union, Community.

1.5 million football tickets will be up for grabs when they go on sale in the UK. There is also speculation that a pre Olympic match between Team GB and Brazil will take place at Middlesbrough's Riverside stadium a week before the official Olympic football kicks off.
