Man stabbed in South Tyneside

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in the shoulder in South Tyneside.

The 36-year-old man was walking on the footbridge between Lukes Lane Estate and Featherstone Grove on Friday evening. There was an altercation with a man who stabbed him before leaving the area.

The victim was helped by a member of the public and an ambulance took him to the RVI in Newcastle.

The offender is described as a white man aged 45 - 47 years, 5 feet 8-9" tall, thin build. He was wearing a grey Everlast cap, black Addidas tracksuit bottoms, white trainers and a long dark calf length woollen coat.

Police are appealing for witnesses and would also like to speak to the member of the public who came to the injured man's assistance He is described as a white man aged late 40s to early 50s, 5 feet 8" tall, medium build, dark hair thinning on top. He was wearing a light blue shirt and black suit trousers.


Reece David Allen named as North Shields stab victim

Police have named the man who was stabbed in North Shields, and later died, as 24-year-old Reece David Allen.

Emergency services were called to West Avenue at 3.20am on January 25.

Reece David Allen was taken to hospital in Newcastle with multiple stab wounds, but died as result of his injuries.

A 24-year-old man and 20-year-old woman remain in police custody.

York murder victim named

North Yorkshire Police have identified a man who died during an incident in York on Monday evening as Liam Paul Miller, 20, from Terrington, near Malton.

“We are absolutely devastated by Liam’s untimely death. We cannot put into words the shock and disbelief we feel about what has happened. Liam was just 20 years old and had his whole life ahead of him. He had returned home for the summer from Liverpool University where he was studying graphic design and illustration. We will miss him more than words can say.”

Police say the investigation into Liam's death in Hamilton Drive, in Acomb, is ongoing.

“Liam played in a local band called Nocebo and we are seeking to identify his movements over the weekend of 25th, 26th and Monday 27th July. We are keen to speak to anyone who has been with Liam, either in person or in contact through phone or social media.”

Officers confirmed they are treating an attack on a second victim, a man in his 50s, as attempted murder. The second man is believed to have gone to Liam's before being stabbed.

Police say the second man tried to flag down passing motorists for assistance, and are appealing for those motorists to come forward. They say they specifically want to trace a black car and a white saloon.

A 19-year-old male who was arrested at the scene remains in hospital where he is receiving medical treatment. Police say he will be taken into custody for questioning when he is discharged from hospital.

Arrest after Newcastle stabbing

Police have made an arrest after a 37 year old man was stabbed in Newcastle.

The man was stabbed during a fight early on Saturday at a house in Shields Road in Byker

He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, but police believe his life is not in danger

A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. Police investigating the case say the two men knew each other.


Man stabbed in Consett gym

A man has been airlifted to the RVI in Newcastle after being stabbed in a gym in Consett.

Police were called to Bell Vue Leisure Centre in Ashdale Road just after two o'clock this afternoon, following a report that two men were fighting in the gym.

A 22-year-old man suffered stab injuries and his condition remains unknown.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been taken to Durham City police station for questioning.

A spokesman from Durham Police said the incident was contained and there was no risk to other members of the public.

Man stabbed in Newcastle

Three men have been arrested after a man was stabbed in the back at a nightclub in Newcastle. Police were called to LQ Nightclub on New Bridge Street just after 4 o'clock this morning. One man aged 23 and two men aged 24 were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

The wounded man was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening. Anyone with information should contact the police.
