A sniffer dog is being sent into the region's hospitals to help prevent patients, staff and visitors from bringing illegal drugs inside.
The NHS Trust that runs six of the North East's psychiatric hospitals says it does not have a big problem with drugs but they are getting inside wards.
The Trust believes Coco the dog will act as a deterrent.
