Nine people charged in connection with protest at mine

Nine people have been charged in connection with a protest at Shotton Surface Mine near Cramlington, Northumberland.

The protesters, who believe coal mining contributes to global warming, stopped work at the mine when they occupied areas of it yesterday, October 27.

Nine people have been charged with aggravated trespass. They are due to appear at South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court on November 26.
