Police appeal for information about a distressed woman seen in South Tyneside

Police are appealing for information about a distressed woman in South Tyneside.

The woman, who appeared to be in a dazed state, was seen on Whitburn Golf Course at 4.30pm on Thursday, January 21. She was seen walking towards the quarry between Quarry Lane and Lizard Lane, near to Lizard Lane Caravan Park.

Police and Mountain Rescue searched the area but could not find the woman.

Officers are keen for anyone who may know who this woman is, or who was in the area at the time and may have any information that can help, to get in contact.

The woman was wearing a light coloured dress, black tights with a seam down the back, a hat with a rim around it and a scarf covering her face.

Superintendent Sarah Pitt said:.

If anyone was in the area of the quarry and the golf course and thinks they saw the woman or has any other information that can help us identify who she is and where she is now we would urge them to get in contact with us immediately."
