Blaydon footbridge: Repair work set to be carried out

Repair work is set to be carried out on a footbridge which was hit by a heavy goods vehicle, leading to fears it could collapse.

Roads were closed for more than three hours after the bridge was struck before partial diversions were put in place.

Gateshead Council told ITV News Tyne Tees engineers were set to start repairs on Thursday afternoon.
