Tall Ships fleet leaves Sunderland

More than fifty vessels have left Sunderland to begin the Tall Ships Races 2018.

Russian Class A vessel Mir, led the fleet out of the River Wear.

Between 5.30 and 7pm, the fleet will form a parade of sail as all ships travel up the coast to Souter Point before turning round and heading out to the North Sea.

The best viewing points are at Seaburn and Roker.
