The historic pedestrian and cyclist Tyne Tunnels, which have been closed for nearly six years of refurbishment - are set to reopen (from midday 7th August 2019)

The tunnels were closed in 2013 for restoration.

Complications have seen the work take 5 years longer than planned and cost nearly £16 million.

The tunnel connects Jarrow and Howdon - allowing you to pass under the River Tyne between South and North Tyneside.
