Four charged over Olympic site protest

Four people have been charged with public order offences after Scotland Yard officers evicted protesters opposed to the building of an Olympic basketball training facility.

Three men and a woman were arrested on Tuesday morning as police removed up to 30 people blocking access to the site on Leyton Marsh, east London.

Police and bailiffs arrived on the site after a High Court official last week granted a possession order to the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said Simon Carleton, 29, Daniel Ashman, 27, Anita Olivacce, 25 and Connor Murray, 24, are each accused of breaching the Public Order Act.

They have been remanded in custody and will appear at Thames Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
