Record number in 'food poverty'

The number of people relying on food banks to feed their family has increased dramatically in the past year. The Trussell Trust says 128,000 people are now using their food banks. 13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK.

Trussell Trust: Two new food banks opening every week

The Charity says there are now 201 food banks nationwide

For the 2011-12 year, the food banks helped to feed nearly 128 thousand adults and children - more than double the previous yearly total.

It's predicted around half a million Britons will need help from a food bank by 2016.
