Defence Minister Andrew Robathan has said the latest cuts in the Armed Forces would be the last major tranche of redundancies for the Navy and the RAF.
He said the MOD would "retain the capabilities that our Armed Forces require in order to meet the challenges of the future".
The Ministry of Defence announced 3,800 job losses in the Armed Forces. Although less than expected, further cuts to the Army are possible.
Thousands of soldiers will learn today that they are to be made redundant as part of the downsizing of the Armed Forces.
