New UK security threat

Terror suspects on the Home Office watch list are coming into the UK ahead of the Olympics without the required security checks, say Heathrow officials, according to a report in Sunday's Observer.

A border officer told the newspaper that new recruits, hired to shorten long queues, are “missing” passengers who should be dealt with by counterterrorism officers. The official said he knew of three terror suspects who had been allowed through since the start of July.

This fiasco comes after security company G4S said it would not be able to provide enough security guards for the Olympics, which has meant that the government has had to step in and call up 3,500 troops to make up the shortfall.
