Foreign Secretary William Hague has told BBC Radio 4 programme today that the UN has "failed" to "shoulder its responsibilities" as Syrian activists have reported to have seized the country's border posts.
Mr Hague said today: “The UN has failed to shoulder its responsibilities, the Security Council has failed to bring about solutions. We shall all be doing more outside the Security Council to support Syrian opposition. We will not be giving lethal support."
"I have no doubt there will be other countries who will be giving lethal support to the Syrian opposition. I don’t rule out any options in the future, but it has never been our policy there to provide lethal help to opposition.”
