Lance Armstrong said "nobody needs to cry for me" after the US Anti-Doping Agency wiped his seven Tour de France titles from the record books and imposed a lifetime ban from professional cycling.

BBC will not take away Armstrong's Sports Personality title

The BBC have said that they would not remove Lance Armstrong's Overseas Sports Personality of the Year title, following his decision not to pursue charges made against him for doping by the US Anti-Doping Agency. The cyclist achieved the title in 2003.

A BBC spokeswoman said:

Lance Armstrong was voted Overseas Sports Personality of the Year based on his sporting achievements at that time.
