Father of Newtown massacre victim heckled during gun debate

The father of a six-year-old victim of the Sandy Hook massacre was heckled by around a dozen gun enthusiasts during a testimony on gun control.

Neil Heslin called on lawmakers to improve mental health options and ban assault weapons.

He also asked those attending the Gun Violence Prevention Working Group in Hartford why assault weapons should not be banned, to which pro-gun activists responded with calls of “Second Amendment” and “do not infringe our rights.”

Mr Heslin’s son Jesse Lewis was killed by Adam Lanza during the Sandy Hook massacre on December 14.
