1/3 hospitals 'at bursting point'

New figures show NHS hospitals hit bursting point last month; with 10% saying they were full every night during January, whilst a third were full for at least one day a month, according to NHS performance watchdog Dr Foster.

Hospital services 'begin to be affected' as occupancy figures soar

The part government-owned NHS performance watchdog Dr Foster said last month that hospitals were "full to bursting" as bed occupancy figures topped 85 percent.

Patient care and the smooth running of a hospital's service begin to be affected at this level, according to the report.

Last month, 95% of beds were occupied on average across the country.
