Turkish police have used tear gas and water cannon to control crowds of protesters in the capital Ankara today on the fourth day of unrest.
Reuters reported that a group of around 1,000 protesters have gathered in the central Kizilay square chanting "Tayyip [Erdogan] resign".
Al Jazeera reports that many of the protesters are secondary school children.
Anti-government protesters and police have been fighting a running battle for control of Istanbul's Taksim Square on an 11th day of clashes.
"We'll never forget what we have seen in the past few days. People bleeding on the street from rubber bullets and nurses beaten by police."
