Jimmy Cricket 'gutted' after concrete wellies theft

Northern Irish comedian Jimmy Cricket has said he is "gutted" that a pair of concrete wellington boots given to him by fellow comedian Ken Dodd have been stolen from his garden in Rochdale.

Mr Cricket tweeted that the boots had "high sentimental value" as Ken Dodd had bought them as a 50th birthday present.

The 67-year-old, who rose to fame in the 1970s after winning a TV talent show, wears wellington boots marked with the letters R and L, but on the wrong feet, as part of his act.

The comedian said he had told the police, who are investigating the incident, to "look for a burglar with a hernia".
