Shard protesters released on bail

Six Greenpeace protesters who scaled western Europe's tallest building, The Shard in London, have been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass last night. They were demonstrating over drilling in the Arctic.

Metropolitan Police arrest six Shard climbers

Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the six protesters who scaled The Shard have been arrested. A statement said:

Six female protestors that climbed the Shard today have been arrested.

They have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass.

Police were called at 04.20hrs to reports of a small group of protesters attempting to scale The Shard, in SE1.

It is believed the group first climbed on to the roof of London Bridge Station before accessing the outside of The Shard.
