Trial of Costa Concordia captain resumes in Italy

The trial of the captain of the Costa Concordia cruise ship, which capsized off Italy's coast last year killing 32 people, has resumed after it was delayed by a lawyers strike.

Francesco Schettino is accused of causing the disaster by bringing the giant vessel too close to shore.

He also stands accused of abandoning the ship before the evacuation of more than 4200 passengers and crew was complete and failing to inform maritime authorities.
