Magna Carta goes on display in St Albans

An original Magna Carta has gone on display to the public at St Albans Cathedral.

One of just four originals, the document was unveiled to excited crowds inside the Cathedral.

First published in 1215, the Magna Carta was designed to limit royal authority by preventing the King from exploiting his power and making it clear that he was not above the law.

The 800-year-old Magna Carta can be seen on display at St Albans Cathedral from August 3-29.
