Thriller writer Tom Clancy dies

The bestselling thriller author Tom Clancy has died, his publisher has confirmed to the New York Times. He wrote The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, which were all turned into major Hollywood films.

Video gamers will know Tom Clancy, who has died aged 66, for the titles produced by the Red Storm Entertainment company he co-founded, which include the Rainbow Six series, the Ghost Recon series and the Splinter Cell series.
