A woman in Felixstowe has been warned by police against taking pebbles from her local beach to decorate her garden.

The woman, 39, is believed to have taken six sack loads of pebbles from the beach near The Dip in Felixstowe.

Police said there were two occasions when three adults and a child went to the beach and loaded their car with pebbles. Officers tracked the woman down using the car's registration number and warned her that taking shingle from the beach was illegal.

An engineer for two local councils said the removal of pebbles could increase the risk of flooding and worsen coastal erosion.
