The residential street where police found a nail bomb on Thursday is in Patricroft in the Eccles area of Salford just west of Manchester.
The road is lined with mostly two-storey terraced homes and is a short walk from Eccles training station.
Manchester Evening News reports that a number of the surrounding roads were cordoned off on Thursday, including Parr Street, Ivy Street, Fir Street and Lewis Street.
