Environment Agency: 'Could have done better over flooding'

The Environment Agency chairman has admitted to ITV News that "we could have done better" in tackling the flooded areas in Somerset. But Lord Smith defended the agency's priorities, saying they were working with a "purse that was not limitless."

Parts of Bristol submerged by floodwater

One early-morning runner took these photographs of the flooding in Bristol at high tide.

The Environment Agency has issued severe flood warnings for the River Severn area and has deployed flood defences along three sections of the estuary at Frankwell, Bewdley and Ironbridge.
